How to Find Your Computer Name

Find the Windows device name used for sharing, support, and remote access.

Follow the steps in order and stop if the screen or target does not match what is described. Use administrator access only when the task requires it.

Open About

Press Windows + I, select System, then About.

Read Device name

Under Device specifications, locate Device name.

Copy it carefully

Computer names can contain similar-looking characters. Copy the name when possible.

Command-line alternative

Open Command Prompt and run hostname.
