Follow the steps in order and stop if the screen or target does not match what is described. Use administrator access only when the task requires it.

Open the power-user menu

Right-click Start or press Windows + X.

Select Device Manager

Approve administrator access if Windows requests it.

Inspect categories

Expand a hardware category. A warning symbol can indicate a driver or device problem.

Avoid guessing at driver changes

Open Properties and record the status and hardware ID before uninstalling or replacing a driver.
