How to Create a System Restore Point
Create a Windows configuration restore point before a risky system change.
Follow the steps in order and stop if the screen or target does not match what is described. Use administrator access only when the task requires it.
Understand the limit
System Restore protects system configuration; it is not a backup of personal files.
Open System Protection
Open Start, search for Create a restore point, and select it.
Enable protection if appropriate
Select the system drive > Configure. Use an appropriate disk-space limit.
Create the point
Select Create, enter a meaningful description, and wait for confirmation.
Keep a separate backup
Back up important personal files independently before risky repairs.
