Updated September 2, 2026Difficulty: EasyTime: 6 minApplies to: Windows, Windows 10, Windows 11

Follow the steps in order and stop if the screen or target does not match what is described. Use administrator access only when the task requires it.

Prepare the printer

Turn the printer on. For USB, connect its cable. For Wi-Fi or Ethernet, connect the printer to the same trusted network as the PC.

Open Printers & scanners

Press Windows + I. In Windows 11 select Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners. In Windows 10 select Devices, then Printers & scanners.

Add the printer

Select Add device or Add a printer or scanner. Wait for discovery, select the correct printer, and follow the prompts.

If it is not listed

Choose Add manually or The printer that I want isn't listed. Use the printer's IP address or its shared path only when you know the correct device.

Print a test page

Select the installed printer, open Printer properties, and print a test page before closing Settings.
