Task Scheduler

Task Scheduler is the Windows tool that runs programs or scripts when a configured time or event occurs.

Task Scheduler instructions, reference material, and troubleshooting.

What should I inspect when a scheduled task fails?

Inspect its trigger, action, account, conditions and last result. A task may wait for a network connection or a logged-in user, and a script may depend on a working directory. Record those settings before editing the task.

Is it safe to run the task manually?

Read the action first and check what it changes. A backup, cleanup or maintenance task can affect active work. After an authorized test, inspect both the task result and the expected output; a process starting is not proof that its intended work completed.
