Install Screensie on Linux
Guided setup for Ubuntu / Debian, Intel or AMD 64-bit. Open Terminal, paste this command, and press Enter:
Setup asks Advanced installation options? [y/N]. Choose y to enter an optional account email, group, and static device password. Password input is hidden.
Approve administrator access when prompted. Setup verifies the download and installs Screensie and its dependencies using your system package manager. Blank optional fields keep existing settings.
The static device password is for remote access, not your account login. Wayland still requires desktop-sharing permission.
Already installed? After downloading the script, run bash screensie-install.sh --configure-only to set the account, group or password without reinstalling.
Other installation options and troubleshooting
If Terminal says curl is missing, run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -y curl, then retry the command above.
Download the .deb directly. App Center installs the package; it does not show the guided setup questions.
Download the setup script to inspect it first. Legacy .run installer for existing manual deployments.
If the client opens no window, run bash screensie-install.sh --diagnose and share that output with support. Run the client as your normal desktop user.
