**Before you begin**

Save open work. Confirm that you are working on the intended computer and that you are authorized to make the change.

## Open Services

Press Windows + R, enter services.msc, and press Enter.

Command

```
services.msc
```

## Find a service

Sort by Name or use the description to identify the exact service.

## Read its state

Check Status and Startup Type before making a change.

Record the original startup type first. Disabling an unfamiliar service can break Windows features.

**Verify the result**

Repeat the relevant check and confirm the intended result before considering the task complete.
