# Hardware

Computer hardware is the physical equipment used by a computer, including displays, input devices, audio devices and adapters.

Practical hardware guides and troubleshooting.

## Where should I start with a hardware problem?

Identify the affected device and check its power, connection and selection in the application. Use Displays for monitor detection, Audio for speakers or microphones, and Bluetooth for wireless pairing. Avoid replacing a driver before confirming that Windows is using the intended device.

## When is a local check needed?

A loose cable, disconnected power supply or physical device fault may need someone at the computer. Record what a local person has checked before repeating software repairs remotely. Use Device Manager to collect status information when the device is detected but reports a problem.
