# How to run SFC remotely.

Updated
October 5, 2026

To run System File Checker remotely with Screensie, open the saved Windows PC, choose Command Center, then Tech → SFC /scannow. Confirm the operation and review its final output. An authorized elevated command session can also run sfc /scannow directly.

## Run SFC directly on Windows

1. Save work and open Command Prompt or Windows Terminal as administrator.
2. Run the system scan:` sfc /scannow `
3. Leave the window open until verification reaches 100%, then review the result.
4. If Windows reports corruption it could not repair, run DISM RestoreHealth, restart, and run SFC again.

## Run it on a remote computer

Use only an authorized administrative channel such as PowerShell remoting or a managed support agent. Confirm the target computer before starting because the scan can be lengthy and may require follow-up.

## With Screensie Command Center

Open the saved PC, choose Command Center, then **Tech → SFC /scannow**. Screensie requests confirmation, reports real operation progress, supports cancellation and returns the final output without taking over the remote screen.

Run repair tools only on computers you own or are authorized to administer. Back up important data first.

## Common questions

**How do I start a remote SFC scan in Screensie?**

Open the saved Windows PC, choose Command Center, then Tech → SFC /scannow. Confirm the operation, wait for completion, and read the final output.

**What if SFC cannot repair the corruption?**

Review the reported result, run DISM RestoreHealth through an authorized administrator connection, restart when needed, and run SFC again. A completed scan does not by itself prove every Windows problem is fixed.

## Repair without interrupting the display

SFC, DISM and combined Windows Repair are built into Command Center.
