# How to run DISM on a remote computer.

Updated
October 5, 2026

On the authorized remote Windows PC, run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth through an elevated administrative connection. In Screensie, open that PC’s Command Center and choose the DISM repair tool, then review the returned output.

## Choose the right DISM operation

Open an elevated Command Prompt and use one operation at a time:

` DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealthDISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthDISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth `

- **CheckHealth** reports whether corruption was already flagged.
- **ScanHealth** performs a deeper component-store scan.
- **RestoreHealth** scans and attempts repair.

## Recommended repair order

1. Run RestoreHealth from an authorized elevated session.
2. Wait for it to finish; do not interpret long pauses as an automatic failure.
3. Run ` sfc /scannow ` afterward.
4. Restart when the result or Windows maintenance requires it.

## With Screensie

Command Center exposes DISM ScanHealth and RestoreHealth as confirmed, allow-listed actions with live progress, cancellation and returned results. **Repair Windows** runs RestoreHealth followed by SFC in the correct order.

## Common questions

**How do I run DISM on an authorized remote PC?**

Use an elevated administrative connection to the intended Windows PC and run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Screensie Command Center also provides a confirmed DISM repair tool with operation output.

**Should I run SFC after DISM?**

When repairing Windows corruption, complete DISM RestoreHealth, review its result, then run sfc /scannow. DISM repairs the component store used as a source for protected system-file repairs.

## Run the repair quietly

The destination user can continue working while Command Center reports progress.
